Compared to Japan where I am living, Singapore is superior when it comes to birthday deals. Merchants are much more generous and will to “invest” for customer loyalty.
I was trying to take advantage of this, but only to be met with sneaky conditions, like requiring x number of paying customers to get the so-called deal. Hello? That's just a regular deal, or not even one since most buffets offer some kind of something-for-one deal.
Since it is my birthday month, I thought I would personally try out or at least read all the terms of the deals and see which are too good to be true.
Note
- All rewards are available in the birthday month unless stated
- All prices are in SGD and NETT
Tier A: The best birthday deals in Singapore
Let's start with the best ones. These typically expect you to sign up for a free membership, which is fair since they are businesses, after all. But you get something completely free, with no (paying) conditions at all.

Tier C: The non-deals (don't bother)
These aren't deals, but marketing schemes. Some are below that by telling you the condition only after you become a member. Sneaky!
Most of them use the get one free for every x number of paying adults formula, which you can usually get even outside birthday. Underwhelming, to say the least. I wouldn't recommend any of these unless you were already planning to visit them with friends.

There are a whole bunch of other merchants in this lackluster category that are not worth my time to add. If don't see it in tier A or B, most likely, it isn't worth it. Leave a comment if you find something that deserves to be shared.

Tier X: Non-existent, unable to verify, or defunct deals
Unfortunately, I was led onto many dead ends from those listicles that promised me a free treat! Here are some that I read about but verified to be no longer available.
Shop | Reward | Notes |
Auntie Anne's | 1-for-1 pretzel | The app was not available in the SG iOS store and pretty sure the rewards program is no longer available. I see the QR code to the member's program taped over at the Auntie Anne's near me. |
A&W | Free root beer | Was unable to find a way to join the Mug Club, and think it's no longer available. |
Spizza | $20 voucher | I signed up before my birthday during my birthday month and did not see the voucher on my rewards page. |
Well, that's all. Hope you at least got a few free drinks from this. Happy birthday! If you find any deals that you personally tried and are worth sharing, do leave a comment so this can be a solid list for all.
