Story
A waterproof and genuinely breathable field jacket in a High Tenacity Raincloth fabric. Heavy-duty performance in the rain, air permeable comfort all the time.
Fabric

A heavyweight take on Polartec's highly breathable waterproof Neoshell fabric. Unlike traditional sweaty waterproof technologies the Neoshell membrane is air permeable, allowing for proper circulation around your body for a vastly superior comfort level.

Unlike many Neoshell fabrics, though, the Raincloth is tough stuff. The face fabric is a high tenacity nylon canvas, nothing light about it, nothing stretchy either, just straight up solid, durable and substantive with a dense yet pliable handfeel. The membrane itself is not extruded like traditional garbage bag "waterproof breathable" fabrics, but is instead electrospun using a nonwoven process. This process leaves tiny holes in the polyurethane membrane that are big enough to allow air circulation but small enough that liquid water molecules can not pass. The result is a far more comfortable waterproof and breathable fabric. The third inner layer is a simple yet durable nylon tricot that breathes fantastically while protecting the electrospun membrane. It all adds together to the first genuine breathable waterproof fabric that meets the Outlier standards of highly functional elegance.

    ↗ High Tenacity Raincloth

A tough exterior high tenacity nylon canvas exterior meets an extremely breathable electrospun polyurthane Neoshell membrane to create a superior waterproof three layer (3L) fabric.

↗ Hug the Head Adjustment System

The back reflective shock cord tightens the hood securely around the head like a well fitting hat, ensuring that the hood moves with the wearer as they look around.

Outlier - Shelter from the Storm (High Collar with Ultrasuede Facing - image)

↗ High Collar with Ultrasuede Facing

The high collar zips (and snaps) up to most wearers mouths, and when cinched down covers the nose as well, enveloping as much of the face as possible while retaining a wide range of vision. The Ultrasuede facing against the lips provides a soft psychological warmth we find comforting in the rain. Zero snaps with thumb covers allow the top of the jacket to be closed with one hand and without fully zipping up.

↗ Cross Lipped Magnetic Front Pockets

The two front hand pockets are engineered for maximum water resistance, fast access and security without the need for a zipper. The crossed lips are cut to keep rain out while worn in anything but the most extreme conditions. The magnetic closure holds them securely together. The wide opening allows for super fast and comfortable access, while the crossed lips minimize how open the pocket gets even when hands are inside. An Ultrasuede key loop is hidden inside the right front pocket.

Japanese-made ratchet adjusts on the cuffs allow for fast one hand expansion and contraction.

    ↗ Hidden Exterior Chest Pocket

An exterior zippered check pocket is tucked behind the front flap, making it nearly invisible yet totally accessible even when the jacket is fully zipped. A second (stretch) stash pocket is hidden inside the pocket for even more discretion.
