It is very light weight. Its small size will stay out of the way from other items. The casing is flimsy since the metal housing is made of very thin, soft metal; so you can't be abusive with it.
The great part about the dry pack is that it is reusable. Once it absorbs too much moisture, I can just put it in the oven on low heat and it will dry out and be ready for the next use (unlike the small paper silica packs). The dot in the center of the dry pack is the indicator and will change color when it is time to bake it in the oven.

After about 2 or 3 weeks, I noticed that all the beads were dark green, indicating that I should recharge it.
So I followed the directions for recharging it, and threw it into the oven and set it to bake for 2 hours at 280F.
After it was done in the oven, the clear window was now NO LONGER CLEAR, it was just white, and I could no longer see the beads.
Thinking it may just need some adjustment from the heat, after sitting on the counter for a while, I threw it into my safe with a still unclear window.
Some days later I checked it out again, and the window is still NOT clear, so I have no clue now when to recharge it, as I cannot see the beads.
The other negative aspect I have about this product is the recharging process.
I would have thought it would be recharged infrequently (like months apart), definitely not every couple of weeks.
Putting it in an oven for 2 hours eats up a lot of energy (electricity or gas, depending on your oven).
If I would have known it would have to be recharged so frequently and at a significant (energy) cost, I would not have purchased this product. While I do still have this item, I will probably be looking for a replacement product, and I will also pay more attention to the maintenance cost of using it.
I'd recommend at least doubling up for your needs, and maybe quadrupling if you're going to be opening whatever you're putting these in. I'd say if you have a 3cu.ft.container which will almost never be opened, two of these is good. If you're going to be opening it once in a while, get 4 and plan to recharge them every 3 months.
The silica beads are NOT as bright orange as in the picture. With the plastic window always picking up glare it can be very difficult to accurately gauge if the beads have turned green or not. Once you're sure they have, it is very easy to recharge them and they do seem to regain effectiveness.
I'll be upgrading to something bigger since I don't even think 8 of these are enough for something 8cu.ft. that will be opened often.

What happens: The top and the bottom part dont really stay together. The second you take it out of the packing, the top and bottom disconnect, and you have thousands and thousands of tiny little silica gel crystals all over the floor.
This what not a single one-off case, but the problem with each of these.
As ashort term solution, i used a cable tie. But of course, this doesnt solve the problem: When you want to dry these in the oven you have to use some kind of uninsulated wire, to keep this together. Just terrible!
